Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy announces 1,000 miles offshore race as part of biggest event yet

— 3nd annual Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy to include brand-new “Thousand Miles Race” between Cascais and Porto Santo Island (Madeira) as part of biggest edition yet;

— Festival of racing for everyone, with classes including Maxi Yachts, NHC, ORC, Classics and Optimist, ILCA and 420;

— Much-expanded programme significant step as event becomes a staple of the summer sailing calendar;

— Plastic-free sustainable regatta and a charitable event, with first 100 team registration fees supported by the Mirpuri Foundation and donated to Marine Conservation programs.

Enjoy some fantastic sailing, meet old friends and witness some of the best racing anywhere in the world.

Over 100 sailing boats, including conventional and high-performance cruisers, are expected for the 2022 edition of the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy, that will take place from the 2nd to the 10th of July in Cascais, Portugal.

The event is officially opened in a special ceremony at Fort Santo António da Barra, where the start of the day’s racing is marked with a symbolic battery of cannon fire, with the fleet of competitors lined up below.

The sustainable regatta will see a large number of sailing boats take to the Atlantic coast of Portugal, to raise awareness and important funds for marine conservation programs.

Located 30km west of Lisbon, Cascais is a historic and cosmopolitan seaside resort on the edge of the Tagus estuary, between the Sintra mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.
